Sophie Halm and Lillith Dunn review fall sports and activities in an end-of-season wrap-up.

The end of fall sports season has arrived, and with it a stack of achievements from PHS’ teams.

Starting off with Friday Night Lights, Perrysburg Football had a great run, drubbing A-Dub and making it to game two of the playoffs. Cruz Vasquez commented on his season, saying, “we had a good bond on this team.”

Girls tennis also made it far, defeating Anthony Wayne and moving on to the state semi finals for the first time in eight years. Captain Madi Watkins explained bittersweetly, “I have such a strong connection with this team, so I’ll really miss the girls.”

Perrysburg Volleyball had a good season, ranking 2nd place in the NLL and were regional semi finalists.

Boys cross country had an amazing season, ranking 2nd place in the NLL and were state runner-ups. In an interview with Captain Dylan Szepiela, he explained how he will miss his coaches and teammates greatly now that his senior season has come to an end. He is beyond grateful to have ran with this team and accomplished everything along the way with them. He said the boys ran for each other, and that was reflected in the outcome of their season, ranking 2nd place in the state.

Girls cross country had a great season. They ranked first in the NLL, and came 7th overall in state competition against 20 schools. Nina Rando reflected on her season, saying that, “…having such a young team and still performing so well made me really proud.” Additionally, Kaelyn and Brayleigh Becken, the All-State collegiate Division I committed twins, looked back on their successful season and reflected on their numerous achievements.

Girls soccer had an amazing run this season, placing 1st in NLL Buckeye division with a record of 6-0-2, as well as making it to OHSAA state semi finals. When reflecting on their two well-fought victories against Walsh, Avery Rettig said, “this year, we shut up the drum,” referring to the drum Walsh beats after winning.

Boys soccer were successful this season, placing first in the NLL with a record of 6-0-2, and made it to the regional championships after several impressive matches.

Boys golf had a good season, placing 4th in the NLL with a 4-0 record, as well as qualifying for district competition as a team.

Girls golf had a good run, placing 4th overall in the NLL with a 1-3 record. While they did not qualify for districts as a team, junior Kennedy Thacker qualified for districts as an individual.

Finally, the fall play “The Odd Couple” was successful, following two opposite friends who decide to become roommates. This play was unique, as it has both a male and female cast. Jordan Nahhas, a cast member of the male version, commented on the play, saying, “I feel like we had a lot of good jokes. We had a lot of good chemistry and . . . just had a lot of fun.”

We reached out to students in the following sports: volleyball, girls golf, boys soccer, and boys golf. However, they did not respond by publication deadline.
