As we near the end of this school year, graduation coming up, seniors are looking back at their high school careers. With adulthood just over the horizon, they can reflect on all the memories these past years have brought them.
Sometimes bad, sometimes good, high school is an emotional rollercoaster for everyone.
Izzy Moskowitz shared that her favorite memory from high school was “all of the football games over my four years, experiencing all sorts of different things and different clubs, and definitely making friends with upperclassmen and underclassmen.”
Moskowitz said that Mrs. Mindy Philips, her junior year math teacher, was her biggest mentor.
“I could go to her about anything,” Moskowitz said.
Her favorite year was senior year.
Kalli Wray is another senior at PHS.
Wray said that her favorite year was freshman year.
“I just had a big friend group and it was just my first high school experience,” Wray said.
She shared that her favorite memory of high school was the football games and prom.
Stella Skolmowski said that the best memory she made this year was at football games.
Skolmowski’s least favorite high school year was junior year.
“Junior year was rough, especially with all the testing,” Skolmowski said.
Skolmowski said that “my freshman year science teacher Mrs. Coti Klima,” made a big impact on her. “I loved her, she was really nice. I could talk to her about anything. Even this year, four years later, I can still talk to her about a lot of things.”
William Lindgren said that high school changed him by teaching him a lot of things that he didn’t think he’d know otherwise.
Lindgren said that his favorite high school year was “probably either this year, my senior year, or my junior year.”
“I got to try a lot of things I never thought I would,” Lindgren said.
He said that the most impactful teacher he had was Mr. Tim Kitson, who taught Lindgren in a class called “Media Literacy” at the time.
And last but definitely not least, Zach Smith said that an important person he met last year was Mr. Patrick Hall.
Smith also said that his favorite year was his senior year and that he’s changed a lot since coming into high school.
“The biggest change I’d say is my style and just being more out there and open, trying new experiences,” Smith said.
“Something I learned is probably getting to know people more, trying new experiences, and branching out.”
Football games and prom were the most popular responses to the senior Google form used to complete this article.
Friendship was also a very common theme amongst responders.
With only a few weeks left until graduation, it seems the seniors are leaving with a suitcase of memories and lessons to carry them on their next step.
PHS will miss them, but we wish them all the success for the future.
