Kenneth, a stuffed frog, has taken over many hearts at Perrysburg High School. His creator, PHS sophomore Ana Claire Munger, says so herself.

Munger says that she has been taking sewing lessons since she was in fourth grade. “When [COVID-19] hit, I stopped going to like my lesson place—and that was mostly like garments and stuff—but I always liked designing things.”

Because of her interest in design, she is still avidly sewing despite the pandemic restricting her lessons. She said that she was always very crafty, often making things for people or to sell.

Munger was inspired to make the frog in September after seeing something similar on Pinterest. She brought the frog, whom she named Kenneth, to school and everyone loved him.

Classmates told Munger that she should make outfits and accessories for Kenneth. She said that, since she already loved sewing and miniatures, it was a perfect idea. Kenneth’s new attire quickly inspired her to make an Instagram account for the frog.

“I thought it would be cool to kinda document that,” she said. “At first it was like, Kenneth on a coffee pot, Kenneth on the table.”

Since then, Kenneth has been pictured on the account wearing various hats, crowns, capes, backpacks, skirts and many other accessories. As his accessories multiplied, so did his fans. Kenneth now has a growing following of over 100.

“As I started to make him outfits it kind of just evolved into this thing that is kind of an embarrassingly large part of my life now,” Munger said.

This fun stuffed animal was intended as a fun crafty item but it quickly turned into a mascot for students.

“A lot of people talk to me about him, like in my classes and from theater,” she said. “Sometimes they’ll be like ‘oh, I saw that on Instagram,’ or ‘oh yeah my friend follows him.’”

“It’s just cool to see that people know who he is,” she said.

Munger says that the “stuffed frog has taken over my heart,” and her classmates could not agree more.
