The winter sports season for 2018-2019 is all concluding or concluded. How did the athletes whose uniforms read “Jackets” fair this season? They all did incredibly well with lots of triumphs!
Boys Basketball: the varsity team made it all the way to the district finals, losing to Lima Senior, with a final score of 44-58. The Jackets ended their regular season with a record of 10-4. They also are ranked 2,703 in the nation, 107th in the state, 61st in Ohio Division 1.
Girls Basketball: varsity overall had a very impressive season. The team went on to be sectional champs and Northern Lakes League champions!
Wrestling: the PHS wrestling team as a whole competed very strongly, sending six wrestlers on to the OHSAA state tournament. Three of the six who went to Columbus finished with podium rankings. Freshman Noah Ewen, 152lbs, finished 6th in his weight class; Junior Drew Newton, 160lbs, also ranked 6th in his class, and junior Blake Satio, 132lbs, finished 3rd overall in his class. Ethan Garee and Blake Satio each celebrated their 100th win this season!
Cheerleading: the cheerleading squad entered state competition and left with a 2nd place overall finish! Many Jacket fans appreciated the hype they brought to athletic events.
Swimming: the swim team was very strong this past season. One freshman swimmer, Julia Beer, went to the OHSAA state tournament, and lowered the the school’s records for the 200 individual medley to 2:07.14 and the 100 butterfly to 0:56.59. At the OHSAA district meet, the girls team placed 8th and the boys team placed 10th.
Gymnastics: The girls on this team made it to state competition and the team placed 8th overall. Individually, Catlin Madigan was placed 12th for vault, 22nd for bars, tied for 22nd for the floor, and overall placed 16th. Karrington Scoble also had an honorable showing, placing 33rd.
Hockey: Varsity hockey earned a league playoff championship, beating Anthony Wayne for the champion title of the white division.
Boys Bowling: This year the boys bowlers did a nice job overall. At the sectionals tournament, the guys placed 13th, and were NLL champs!
Girls Bowling: This new team really showed what Perrysburg is made of, and overall the girls really improved. At the sectionals tournament, the Lady Jacket bowlers placed 11th. The girl’s team did very well for being the first year Girls Bowling Team was formed!
As a whole, winter Jacket athletes performed very well this season. Now onto spring sports.
