International Food Day showcases diversity

Imagine the smell of dumplings. It is savory. A dish, beloved by many people. Now imagine an International Food Day, which took place in Perrysburg High School on March 25.

Turnout was incredibly high.

Robbie Zhang said that International Food Day “symbolizes unity, harmony and global acceptance.” Zhang said, “As of right now in a political climate, geographical diversity is not accepted, local food day helps to combat it.”

Students tasted foods ranging from samosas, an Indian appetizer dish, to dumplings. The event was sponsored by Muslim Student Association, Indian Heritage Club, Asian American Club, and Afro American Club.

Zhang said he wants Perrysburg to enjoy “the good food and try and come together to help people.”

Zhang also said that a “lot of communicating went into” making this event happen. He said the groups coordinated because “we wanted to bring enough to feed everyone.”

Braylon Foster, vice president of the Afro American Club, said that “we made a couple plate of foods, we helped organize the event.” He said “we made biscuits” and his group was “debating on chicken.” Foster said that having the sense of “camaraderie was cool too” among the participants of this event.
