The Perrysburg Yellow Jacket regular season continues with a game against the Bowling Green Bobcats on Saturday February 1st, 8:00PM, At Slater Ice Arena. The matchup is one of the Jackets’ best ranked opponents of the year. Right now the Yellow Jackets are 8-13-4 and the Bobcats are 20-9.
The Perrysburg Hockey team has been playing countless games, they are currently 8-13-4 (as of January 29th). Their season began with a great start with consistent wins like the victories over St. Xavier and then Archbishop Moeller.
The Jackets have had a successful season so far with the hope to make a long and successful playoff run. The Jackets through the first 20 games have scored 53 goals, while allowing 62 goals. On the other side of the match up the Bobcats have scored 88 goals, while allowing 54 goals.
Logan Lawniczak, a player for the Jackets said, “We have to be able to keep the puck out of our zone, and make sure we are not putting the goalie in a bad space to easily get scored on.”
BG Senior Forward Captain Rhett Winger has had an outstanding season so far leading the team in both assists and goals this season. He is also ranked number four in Ohio for assists.
Perrysburg center, senior Tony Pinkisi, has been making big numbers on the ice this year and leading the team in goals. Pinkisi is able to move the puck around and set up great goals and potential plays for his teammates.
The Jackets did not have a good first experience with the Bobcats back in January, losing 4-2. The Bobcats were able to move the puck down the ice in rotation weaving through the Bobcats’ defense. The penalty did not help with the Jackets last time allowing two goals – one on a power play and one on a 3-on-5. Jackets need to lock down on defense and keep the puck on their side of the ice and keep running up the score to defeat the Bobcats.
Get tickets at the entrance of the game for $10 or bring your student ID for free entry!
