The boys and girls swim teams of Perrysburg High School held a meet last Friday against Oak Harbor; the girls held their ground for a clear win and the boys left with a tie.

Co-Captains of the men’s team are junior Alex Kloster and senior Dallas Stiles, who said simply that the “girls swam fantastic and the guys fought hard.”

We swam fast!” said freshman RJ Mckee enthusiastically. And fast they did, many members of both the men’s and women’s team swam their personal best at this meet.

The men fought all the way to the end and managed to leave the meet with a tie of 85 points on each side.

“We swam hard,” said sophomore Cole McClary when asked how he thought his team did at this meet, “[and ended] with a tie, so not bad.”

The co-captains for the women’s team are seniors Angel Overholt and Madeline Mielcarek. They helped lead their team to dominate Oak Harbor with an ending score of 122 to 48.

Many of the girls and some of the guys actually swam “off events” at this meet. An “off event” would be an event that the team member does not usually swim, in order to gain strength in that area.

Despite this, the girls pulled off a great victory. “We gave our best efforts into the meet,” said junior Maddie Burke, “and that really paid off for us!”

Overall, the team has had a great start to their season and is excited for what is to come.
