On a chilly December night the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets arrived at the Springfield High School to take on the Blue Devils.

The Jackets were coming off their season open victory against the St. Francis Knights. This would be their first appointment inside of the fierce Northern Lakes League.

A conference that is full of experience, height, and talent. All three things the Springfield brought to the table.

The Thursday night game was a constant nail-biter, as little as one point that separated the Blue Devils and the Yellow Jackets after both the first and second quarters.

Coaches talk with players during the Springfield game on Thursday, Dec. 6.

The Jackets would gain momentum at the end of the third quarter with a three-point shot at the buzzer by Shane Edwards.

During the fourth quarter the Yellow Jackets would finally start to pull ahead and keep the same intensity they had during the first quarter.

Perrysburg would end up on top with a score of 38-32. This improved the Yellow Jackets’  record to 2-0 and 1-0 in the NLL.

Both teams applied much pressure up and down the court during each period. The Jackets defense caused many turnovers and capitalized on bad passes.

Noticeably absent from the court was star center Nate Patterson who is out because of an illness.

Nick Moschetti led the Jackets’ scoring with 14 points and Edwards chipped in 12 more. But all players made valuable contributions to the effort.

They will face Napoleon Wildcats, another league opponent, next Thursday.
