The annual girls powderpuff game has finally arrived! The current seniors led by Alexa Perry, Aliyah Chambers, and Carly Friar look to avenge their controversial loss to the class of 2026 seniors in the prior season, losing by just one touchdown.

The senior girls were not the only ones with high hopes. The sophomores are past their first year powderpuff jitters, and the juniors are finally upperclassmen with high hopes to take this year’s victory.

The annual game started off at around 6:45PM on a clear Tuesday evening with the juniors taking on the freshman.

Game One: Juniors vs Freshman

The freshmen were led by quarterback Gracie Smith, wide receiver Hope Myers, and running back Jordyn Wright.

The juniors struck first taking a 7-0 lead.

Yet the freshmen came right back and answered, with a touchdown catch by Hope Myers making it 7-7.

The freshmen were giving up a great fight, yet momentum was still on the juniors’ side as they were tied going into halftime, while also receiving the ball to start the second half.

The juniors cruised down the field with ease in the second half, led by spectacular catches from Khaden Walters and Chloe Lafasso.

Junior Lily Palmer took advantage of the run game as well.

The juniors’ offensive star power was too much for the freshmen taking a 28-14 win to cruise into the final matchup where they will play the winner of the sophomores and seniors.

Game Two: Seniors vs Sophomores

The seniors and sophomores wasted no time getting on the scoreboard

Touchdowns scored back and fourth in the first half, making the seniors play on their toes.

With a 14-14 score at the end of the first half made many fans think that the sophomores may pull off the upset.

The seniors wasted no time squashing their dreams, pulling ahead to outscore the sophomores 28-7 in the second half including a pick six on defense and ending the game with a 42-21 win.

The Buildup to the Final Game

The seniors had their eyes set on the next opponent, taking on the juniors after a quick end of game rest.

As the juniors are warming up, the seniors are cooling down after their previous game

Unlike the seniors, the juniors got a big break in between their games, being able to prepare for their biggest test.

Senior receiver Lucy Pafford said “it was a disadvantage and I think that affected the team negatively in our second game.”

Junior receiver Chloe LaFaso said “between games to keep the momentum a lot of us sat together and watched the seniors and sophomores play. I think it benefitted us because we got to rest before we played again.”

The Championship, Seniors vs Juniors

The seniors started the game with possession, first down and ten from their own thirty-five yard line.

The team stormed down the field quickly

At first down and ten from the juniors’ forty yard line, Carly Friar played in the shotgun with Aliyah Chambers to her left as the halfback. Friar snaps the ball and hands it off the Chambers.

Chambers breaks through quickly, storming past the juniors’ defense, leading to a touchdown for the seniors, giving them a 7-0 lead.

The entire first half was back and forth – the juniors answering every senior score with a score of their own.

The score was 14-14 at the end of the first half.

An advantage of winning the coin toss is that the juniors then got to defer their possession to the second half.

The juniors continued to sour down the field and take their first lead of the game 21-14.

The seniors behind the ground attack of Friar stormed back very quickly and knotted it at 21.

The seniors huddle on the sideline during the final timeout of the game. The seniors had been coming up with great game plans offensively and defensively. Head coach Malik Beck stated “The girls played hard, and it was easy to adapt along the way of the games. Play calling has not been an issue all game.”

After another drive of back and fourth scores, the juniors held possession at 28 all with two minutes remaining.

Lily Palmer led the way with great passes to her receivers while also scrambling for pick-ups.

Momentum was key to the juniors’ strategy.

Palmer stated that “coaches were a big part of it. They called timeout in the last minute and we had the ball, getting a good gameplan while keeping the ball and moving down the field.”

The fans in the section, including parents, and classmates all watched frantically.

The juniors were lined up inside the twenty yard line, first and ten, twenty seconds on the clock.

Palmer snaps the ball and dropped back, but no players were open.

She found a seam, advanced for a few yards with twelve seconds left on the clock.

The juniors huddled, getting ready for their final play gameplan, ready for overtime or the taste of victory.

Palmer snapped the ball, took several seconds in the pocket, knowing she needs the endzone to win. The defense seemed to be on full lockdown.

“The first thought was looking at who was being guarded by who and who would be open, and then when the play started I realized I had nobody too open,” Palmer said.

Palmer looked deep into the back of the endzone and finds Kaedin Walters for the win. The juniors won on the last play of the game.

Palmer praised the win, saying, “I felt awesome. At first I thought Kaedin was out of bounds, but when the refs called a touchdown I felt amazing, and celebrating with my team and finally getting a junior win was an amazing memory.”

The seniors fell in the championship for the second straight year.

Post Game

The Juniors showing off their trophy from winning the annual powder puff football games. Not even ten minutes ago, they were all crowded in the endzone celebrating their last second touchdown reception by Kaedin Walters.

The juniors got to be the victors a year earlier than expected thanks to the star power of Palmer, Walters, LaFaso and others.

LaFaso said “it felt amazing to win powder puff as juniors because it’s always been known that the seniors always win so proving everyone wrong is big. We had girls who participate in all different types of sports and activities, so it was especially fun to see that this game brought us together and we got a good team win.”

The seniors on the other hand had to deal with another loss with players saying they felt they should have won. The class of 2027 will never get to experience a powder puff football victory.

Now the question pops up about the class of 2026.

Will they repeat as champions next year?
