Photo gallery: Boys varsity lacrosse team perseveres, eventually scoring close win against Anthony Wayne Generals

On Tuesday April 9, 2024, Perrysburg High School fought rivals Anthony Wayne in a boys varsity lacrosse game. The game was located at Widdel Field at Steinecker Stadium, Perrysburg winning 12-11.

The team gets ready to face the Anthony Wayne Generals. AW had fair track record, winning three games in the season so far.
AW starts with a lead, scoring three goals in the first quarter. Here, PHS senior Trey Haney runs after AW’s Michael Weiss.
By the end of the quarter, Perrysburg had scored one goal. Here, junior Zach Schroeder gets hold of the ball.
Sophomore Jonathan Butterfield and junior Grandin LeBoutillier help freshman Liam Thompson celebrate his goal.
Anthony Wayne continues scoring goals into the second quarter. Junior Brady Slawinski picked up a ground ball during the game.
Senior Midfielder Alex Birch fights AW senior Nick Lee in a face off for the ball.
Perrysburg scores four goals in the second quarter, AW scoring five. At the end of the quarter AW leads 8-4.
Junior goalie Nate Ettore returns to the cage.

Ettore is ready to guard the goal.
AW scores two more goals, rounding out their score to 10 goals. Perrysburg junior Nathan Gibbs pushes forward, eventually causing two turnovers.
Perrysburg continues to score into the third quarter.
Seniors Birch and Haney take defense. Perrysburg scored six goals in the third quarter.
Perrysburg takes the lead by the end of the quarter, towering over AW with just one goal.
The team times out before continuing.

Thompson celebrates his goal. Perrysburg scored one additional goal in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Wayne scores one goal in the fourth quarter. Perrysburg maintained their lead.
PHS wins the game with a lead of one goal. The score was 12 -11.
