Kerrigan Lockhart Sports Jackets Bring the hype for the last MAUL MAUMEE week November 15, 2022November 15, 2022 KerriganLockhart Seth Ermie, a sophomore at Perrysburg High School, showcased the elaborate Maul Maumee decor in the commons. As a member of the student council, Seth assisted with the process of decorating the school for the last football game against Perrysburg’s rival, Maumee. The procedure takes lots of preparation, and Seth expressed, “Weeks prior to Spirit Week, student council members crafted signs to hang throughout the hallways and ordered different decorations to fill the halls”. Students used relevant trends and memes to produce creative signs, such as the one seen above. “Little Miss Can’t Win – Maumee” is a spinoff on the popular Little Miss books that have taken the internet and Gen Z by storm. Hues of pink, orange, and blue filled the sky, mesmerizing the audience of a Friday night football game versus St. John’s Jesuit. As players rushed the field, so did the natural palette of the sunset, creating an encapsulating view and the perfect setting for another Perrysburg win. The Swarm gathers in the bleachers to cheer on the PHS football team as they take on Northview High School. Supported by an uproar of cheering and the booming of Thunder Sticks, Perrysburg took the win with a score of 56-10. As students strolled through the main doors of the school on the day of the final Maul Maumee game, they were met with a prideful display of black and gold. The sign allows Perrysburg to stand their ground; reminding viewers of their territory, Jacket Country, foreshadowing the football team’s final victory against Maumee. The Swarm spent the days leading up to the Maul Maumee game working hard on signs to show their strong school spirit. Perrysburg students from various clubs, including Pride Club and Student Council, united with paint and posters to cover the school’s halls in black and gold. Freshman Student Council member Sarah Modlin added, “We really had to put our heads together and brainstorm ideas. In the end, everything turned out great and it was such a fun experience”.
