The Perrysburg Yellow Jackets football team continues their undefeated season beating out both Southview and Napoleon.
The Yellow Jackets beat Southview, Friday, September 11, in a 54-0 shutout, with a total of 115 passing yards and 284 rushing yards. The Jackets stopped Southview’s offense, only allowing 27 passing yards and one rushing yard.
The Jackets then continued their winning streak with a 30-14 victory over Napoleon. The Jackets had a total yard count of 390 (197 passing, 193 rushing) and Napoleon ended up with 228 total yards (58 passing, 170 rushing).
Head Coach Matthew Kregel commented that, “This team plays together and plays really hard” and that “it feels good. We knew we had the potential to be very good. It feels really good that our guys are totally invested in winning.”
Senior Cade Zimmerly, defensive tackle, shared a similar sentiment, saying, “A couple months ago we didn’t know if we would have a season and now it’s indescribable how it feels to be undefeated.”
While the Jackets are undefeated, they are still conscious of their flaws. Kregel said in relation to necessary improvements, “We still need to work on our completion percentage. We’ve missed some opportunities in the pass game. We were much better last week but need to continue to improve.”
Zimmerly added, “No one is perfect and there is always room for improvement. However we are very physical and come out mean.”
This season is certainly going in favor of the Jackets, their next game is home against Bowling Green at 7:00 pm.
