At the Perrysburg Board of Education meeting on March 17, a new event to raise funds for the district was introduced and met with positive feedback from committee members: The Hunger Games of Northwest Ohio.

This event will mimic a last-player-standing battle royale like those depicted in “The Hunger Games” series.

Susan Rowland Miller, President of the Perrysburg Schools’ Board of Education, said, “We hope that this event will bring in new revenue for our schools and bring back the programs we have to cut after the levy failing. It will be entertaining at least.”

After the Perrysburg Schools’ levy failed in November of 2024, the district has been taking extra steps to raise money for the schools.

“We tried redistricting, and that helped, but it’s not enough for our students,” Rowland Miller explained. “The community has spoken. May the odds be ever in your favor.”

The committee discussed the event occurring annually in July at the Fallen Timber Battlefield Metropark, potentially featuring live animals from the Toledo Zoo.

Along with the Hunger Games event, the Board of Education also discussed a local art auction for parents to fundraise for school supplies and extracurricular activities.
