The Perrysburg Yellow Jackets are ready to play “THE GAME”

The Perrysburg Yellow Jacket regular season comes to an end with the final game on Friday October 25th. The Jackets will play their toughest opponent of the year away at Anthony Wayne.

Right now the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets have one loss at 8-1 while The Generals are undefeated at 9-0. The high stakes add to the brewing rivalry.

The Jackets have had a successful season so far with the hope to make a big playoff push. Through the first nine weeks The Jackets have scored 323 points while only allowing 82.

Ben Marshall, a coach for the Jackets said, “We started well with the running game and the passing game caught up to us.” Running and passing are both critical to a Yellow Jacket victory against Anthony Wayne.

On the other side of the match up, The Generals have scored 361 points, while only allowing 90 points.   

Both teams have experience winning blowout games. Anthony Wayne played against the Northview Wildcats and won with a score of 56-0. The Jackets played against the Springfield Blue Devils and won by a score of 42-6.

Outstanding players on the field

Anthony Wayne’s quarterback, Senior Grant Kinnee, whose stats include 17 total touchdowns, and an average 14.1 yards a game, is a multisport athlete. 

Perrysburg’s junior running back Nicolo Walkosky also has some noticeable stats; he is averaging 70.6 yards a game with over 90 carries. 

Marshall made clear to eSomethin that Joe Seany has to be good both ways this week and that, “Dominic (Woods) and Josh (Takats) have to do well, also the Defensive line including Eric Bush making stops and the defensive ends have to do well.”

Rowan Denton, a defensive linemen who practices against the starting offense, said, “Josh(Takats) and Dominic (Woods) are some key players for the team that need to find a connection.”

Common opponents between Perrysburg and Anthony Wayne

Both Perrysburg and Anthony Wayne played the Whitmer Panthers this season. Anthony Wayne played the Panthers on September 27. The Generals won that game with a score of 27-3. Just a week later, the Yellow Jackets played the Panthers, losing their matchup by 14 points, 27-13.

The Findlay Trojans another matchup the two teams had in common. The Jackets played in Findlay on October 11 and ended their week 8 matchup with a final score of 37-14. A week prior, The Generals were home against the Trojans on October 4th, earning a 34-25 win.

Springfield is a 2-7 team The Generals played for their week 8 matchup and who the Jackets played for their week 9 match. During the matchup on October 11th the Generals won 43-13. Perrysburg scored only one point less and held them to 7 less with a final score of 42-6

The final of the common matchups is the Northview Wildcats. On september 27th the Yellow Jackets had a blowout win with a final score of 55-0. The Generals also had a blowout win with a score of 56-0.

Together the Generals and the Jackets combined for a score of 307-88. Against the common matchups the Jackets scored 147 and only allowed 47. Anthony Wayne allowed 41 points and scored 160 points.
