What’s poppin’, Perrysburg?! So much happens within our community every day. There is a lot to take in. Do we know exactly when and where cool events are happening? This article is a resource to help you know what’s poppin’ in Perrysburg!
We will highlight bigger community events and happenings within the Perrysburg High School community. So without further adieu — let’s get into what’s poppin’!
Area Events:
- The Lights Before Christmas at the Toledo Zoo (2 Hippo Way, Toledo, Ohio)
- From Nov. 18- Dec. 31, you can enjoy this classic Toledo tradition and see animals, over a million lights, and over 200 light-up animals. Tickets are reserved so make sure to get your tickets in time to enjoy this special event. Tickets are $23 for adults and $26 for 2 and under and 60+ and can be purchased at toledozoo.org/lights.
Deb Callaway, counseling office secretary, said of the lights at the zoo, “I always liked the music set to the lights. I think it’s so fun.”
- Perrysburg Holiday Parade
- Sunday, Dec. 4, head to downtown Perrysburg for a day of fun! The parade will start at 2:00 pm. The forecast looks a bit chilly so bundle up and enjoy a hot cocoa from Maddie and Bellas and watch the parade to show some hometown love. No admission is required.
Senior Sophia Helton said, “I would stand on the corner of E 2nd street and Louisiana Avenue for the best views.”

- Fine Arts Events:
- Perrysburg High School Orchestras
- The PHS orchestra is having two upcoming concerts on Tuesday, Dec. 6, and Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 pm in the PHS auditorium. These concerts are sure to be a great addition to any holiday festivities. No admission fee is required.
- Perrysburg High School Orchestras
Lauren Yoder, a sophomore, said “We have been working really hard on our pieces every day and I can’t wait for our friends and family to be able to hear us and the progress we’ve made.”
- Perrysburg High School Choirs
- The PHS show choir, a capella choir, and choruses are putting on their annual holiday concert Dec. 13, a night filled with holiday classics and plenty of dance moves. No admission fee is required.
“Our set is a little long but it’s really cool and fun. I like the choreography and the way all our voices blend is very cool” says sophomore Callie Frier.
- Perrysburg Theatre
- A new event will be taking place Dec. 17 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm: “It’s a Wonderful Life” will be performed in this showcase of the Thespian talent in the theatre department. There are scaled prices for admission. Details are coming soon.
Senior Jasmine Smith says she’s excited because “It’s a Christmas show, right before Christmas!”

Senior Andrew Hunt, a basketball player on the varsity team, said, “What I’m looking forward to most is just hanging out with the guys every day.”

Nick Hartzell, a senior, said, “I’m most looking forward to being able to compete with my teammates and chase a championship”

Karli Courtney, a junior, said, “I’m super excited to not only spend time with people I’m already friends with but also create new friendships! I’m also really excited to be part of the team and see where we go this year, whether that’s districts or something more”

“This season I’m looking forward to team bonding activities like team dinners, and stuff along with going to meets that we as a team haven’t competed at before” said junior Maggie Merriman.
