Perrysburg Yellow Jackets once again pull out a football victory, this time over Bowling Green. Scoring an impressive 49 to 14 victory, the Jackets head into the Maumee/Homecoming game undefeated.
The Yellow Jackets gained a total of 465 yards, 168 passing, and 297 rushings. Bowling Green had a 2-11 third-down conversion, while Perrysburg had a 5-7 third-down conversion. Jackets ended with one turnover and one fumble, and BG ended with two turnovers, one fumble, and one interception.
Christian Gulgin said that “I think the team did well playing hard the entire game. We did not let up and the scoreboard showed that.”
Coach Matthew Kregel echoed Gulgin’s sentiment, saying “I think we were really physical. Our offensive and defensive lines dominated the game. We need to work on ball security. We fumbled at a critical point in the game.”
With a winning streak behind them, the Jackets now shift focus to the Maumee game.
“We are all looking forward to the Maumee game,” said Gulgin, “It’s a fun week and a bunch of guys get their hair done so it’s a great time to be apart of the football team during Maumee week.”
Connor Waldenzak said, “I am looking forward to going out there and playing with the team in the Maumee game and bring home the bell.”
Coach Kregel added that “This is one of the highlights of the school year. I wish we could have everyone there Friday but we can’t. Enjoy the week and enjoy the rest of the season.”
The homecoming game against Maumee is Friday at 7 at Steinecker Stadium.
