Franny Sberna is a PHS senior who has committed to Walsh University, a D2 school in Canton, Ohio, for golf. She also is currently hosting a foreign exchange student named Ana Maria Jimenez who is here from Mexico for the year to play.
Between academics and athletic ability, Sberna has accumulated a nearly full-ride scholarship, only having to pay for room and board. The Sberna family was contacted by another family from the PHS golf team explaining that Jimenez sought a host family that golfed.
Sberna has been on the varsity girls’ golf team since her freshman year and has been playing first spot since her sophomore year. She has also seen three separate high school coaches through the years, including Scott Sorg, Wade Kuns, and Jon Moravitz. Her current record on nine holes is 37 and 72 on 18.
“Through golf I have made lifelong friends and memories,” Sberba said.
